PMPML conductor refuses to give passenger balance amount of R3, instead hits him on eye

His only fault was he demanded change from a bus conductor. Tohit Khan (20), a sales executive working with a private telecom provider, was beaten up by the conductor of a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus, leaving him with serious injury on his left eye.
Khan along with other passengers went to the Pulgate police chowky, but his complaint was not registered after a local politician intervened.

He paid the conductor Rs 10 for a ticket costing Rs 7. "As the bus approached the Kalubai temple, I reminded the conductor to pay me the remaining amount of Rs 3, which he flatly refused. When I pointed out to him that he had enough change in his bag, he asked me to mind my own business. After a brief argument, he held me by my collar and started hitting me on the face. I was shocked and did not know how to react," Khan said.
Khan along with some passengers went to the Solapur Bazaar police chowky. "Thankfully, all the passengers rushed to my help. The conductor tried to convince the police that he hit me because I pushed a girl standing next to me. But his lie did not last long as the girl herself told the police that his claims were untrue," Khan said.
Khan then went to the Pulgate police chowky to lodge a complaint against the conductor.
But a political worker intervened on the conductor's behalf and dissuaded Khan from lodging a complaint.
He promised that the conductor would pay the expenses for Khan's treatment.
An official from the Pulgate police chowky said, "The case was not registered because it was resolved among themselves."
The official tried to cover up the matter by saying the boy might have fell in the bus and injured himself on the left eye.
D A Pardeshi, public relation officer, PMPML, said: "If the conductor is at fault, then he will not be spared. If a commuter contacts us and gives a complaint in writing, we will take stringent action against the conductor."
