The BJP president says this will be done when the party comes to power; blames Congress-NCP government for opening fire on innocent farmers

BJP national president Amit Shah has said the party will re-investigate and punish the guilty in the Maval firing case, when it comes to power. The police had opened fire on protesting villagers on the Pune-Mumbai expressway three years ago. Four farmers were killed and 19 were injured in the firing.

Shah, who was speaking at a public rally in Lonavla yesterday, while lashing out at Congress-NCP government in the state, said that these two parties always ask what the BJP government did in the last four months since they came into power. “I will ask the Congress-NCP government what they did for Maharashtra in the last 15 years. What they did is opened fire on innocent farmers who were protesting for drinking water in Maval taluka,” Shah said.
The farmers were protesting the laying of a pipe from Pauna dam in their area to Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, fearing that it would deprive them of water for their work.
He asserted that when BJP would come into power, the government would make sure to re-investigate the case and strictly punish the guilty. Shah also slammed the Congress-NCP government in the state for the corruption of Rs 88,000 crore in various scams, including the infamous Adarsh scam. “If the state government had used that money on the development of Maharashtra, the state would have gone ahead of all other states across the nation,” Shah added.
Mocking former CM Prithviraj Chavan, Shah said, “I have seen the advertisement telecast on various channels where Chavan was shown signing a document. Instead, he should have signed those documents which came to him in the last five years for developmental projects.”
Shah also lashed out at NCP chief Sharad Pawar and said that he has no right to take Chhatrapati Shivaji’s name. “The Congress-NCP government has announced they will build Chhatrapati Shivaji’s memorial. However, so far, the government could not even lay its foundation stone,” Shah pointed out.
