If you are a cinegoer, you'll be watching a short video that shows real accident footage from surveillance cameras, just before movie starts

The city traffic police have gone a step ahead in spreading the message of traffic awareness. Now, cinegoers will watch a two-minute promo video on road accidents before each movie starts. ACP (Traffic and Security) Praveen Sood told MiD DAY, "The video is very interesting and eye catching. It shows how accidents occur when peopleu00a0 speed or jump signals.

On record: The videos show how accidents occur for a small mistake
made by the motorists such as signal jumping, overtaking, rash driving
and so on

The video even has background music, and we have credited it to Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa and lyricist Javed Akthar. The song has four parts on speeding, using mobile phone while driving, drink driving and signal jumping. At present the background song is in Hindi but later we will have it in Kannada as well."

The video has been put together using accidents captured by surveillance cameras put up at traffic junctions. The videos show how accidents occur for a small mistake made by the motorists such as signal jumping, overtaking, rash driving and so on. The two-minute video will be distributed to multiplexes at Lido Mall and Garuda Malls, and will be shown at other multiplexes and cinema halls later.

"We have played it at a few schools, and got good response from the studentsu00a0-- they wanted to watch it again and again," he added.

Other efforts
The Traffic Management Centre (TMC) conducts classes for BMTC, cab and auto drivers for traffic awareness. Apart from that, schools and college students also visit the TMC to know more about safety through audio-video media.
