Braving snowfall, Kashmiri locals carry pregnant woman to hospital

Extreme cold weather in Kashmir, with a fresh bout of snowfall, have thrown normal life out of gear. Residents are facing massive hardships in their everyday lives due to the freezing temperatures. However, we often hear stories of inspiration at times of adversity and one such motivating story emerged from the streets of Kashmir.


In a video that has emerged from Kashmir, a bunch of good samaritans are seen helping a pregnant woman to the hospital by carrying her on their shoulders, after an ambulance could not get to her because of the extreme weather conditions.


The video is warming many hearts online as people are touched by the gesture of the Kashmiri citizens. Kashmir is experiencing heavy snowfall and several areas of the valley are not accessible by road. 


The ambulance that was sent to take the pregnant woman to the hospital got stuck. A group of men immediately swung into action and braved the weather to save the day for the pregnant woman. in the video, the brave men are seen carrying the woman on a makeshift stretcher while wading in knee-deep snow. The incident occurred in the Sheeri area of north Kashmir.

The video was shared by journalist Ishfaq Tantry on Twitter, with the post that read, "Amid heavy snowfall people carrying pregnant lady towards Sheeri hospital in north Kashmir. Ambulance sent to carry the patient could reach up to Audoora village only as roads are still closed," he tweeted.

It did not take long for the video to go viral, with many praising the people for the good work. "This is Humanity. This is Unity. Peace. Hope the mother and the baby are fine," read one of the many comments on the video.

Journalist Tantry in another tweeted said that the woman was admitted at the district hospital in Baramulla and she and her newborn are doing great. He also mentioned that it the woman's eighth delivery.
