All that the stunned constables, who sources saidu00a0 were beaten black and blue, could do was file a complaint against Chaudhary in their own police station about 30 minutes later.

Inspector Gopala K P of the Cottonpet police station had received a tip-off on Monday that Chaudhary, who had been absconding for two months, was visiting his family on Bakri Eid. That is when he sent three of his constables to catch the wanted man.

Manhunt launched

Following Murthy R's complaint, the Cottonpet police charged Chaudhary with assaulting or using criminal force to deter public servant from discharging his duty under Section 353 of the Indian Penal Code. A manhunt has been launched for Chaudhary.

"We surrounded him near his house but he overpowered us and beat us up," Murthy said in his complaint.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West)u00a0 B Shivakumar, deniedu00a0 Chaudhary had beaten up the cops. "Chaudhary slipped away while being escorted to the station, and in the melee the police constables probably sustained some injuries," he said. "Chaudhary is just another local goon. Whatever it takes, we will arrest him at the earliest."

Beating policemen comes under Section 353 of IPC
Whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any person being a public servant in the execution of his duty as such public servant, or with intent to prevent or deter that person from discharging his duty as such public servant, or in consequence of anything done or attempted to be done by such person to the lawful discharge of his duty as such public servant, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
