WHAT's ON took a trip to Sanjeevani and found the prints, vases and murals ideal if you want to give your home a makeover
Started as a joint venture by two friends, Akshay Borkar and Parag Pimplegaonkar, Sanjeevani is a one-stop shop that helps you decorate your home artistically, but at affordable rates. "Every room should tell a story and project your personality. We have items that are elegant, enhance the aesthetics of a room, suit your mood and are also ideal as gifts," says Parag.
Ambience: Situated in a busy corner of Navi Peth, Sanjeevani stands out among the other shops in the area.
The store is done up in white, in contrast to the colourful paintings and show pieces it houses. The store has a contemporary feel and an organised look; it is divided in three sections to provide fuss-free movement and an easy selection.
There is an entire printing section, where you have prints of original works by famous painters as well as a framing section. The decorative piece section has an amazing collection of acrylic, glass and wooden show pieces stacked up in glass shelves. The loft above comprises of fibre murals. The lighting accentuates the items on display.
USP: Sanjeevani does not keep any original paintings; it only stocks prints of original paintings and posters of artists from countries like Holland, Germany and Korea. They also have a catalogue of the International Graphics Company, which features more than 1,500 exclusively published prints from more than 200 artists. You just have to select the print, the size and the frame. "Because they are only prints, you can handle them as you like. The rate depends not on the prints but on the type of framing that you insist on," adds Parag. You can choose prints ranging from gods and goddesses to sceneries as well as abstract themes.
We liked: A hanging Ganesha statue (Rs 6,690), which was made up of fibre but appeared to be carved out of stone. A matador (Rs 1,100) carved out of wood with a silver head was eye-catching. A lightweight fibre figurine (Rs 1,500) in bronze and grey, looked very sensuous.u00a0
