Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Murali Manohar Joshi on Tuesday said that global supermarket chain Walmart spent 53 million dollars to get access to retail market in the country.
Joshi further alleged that some ministers might have been beneficiary of pay-off.

“They (Walmart) have mentioned in their public documents that they have spent 53 million dollars in India to get access to the Indian market. They should name the ministers they paid money to,” Joshi said at a public rally here.
The Centre formally opened its supermarket sector to foreign chains and eased foreign investment rules in airlines and broadcasters, implementing a spate of reforms, aimed at reviving growth and staving off a credit rating downgrade.
