Push to TALK (PTT) devices are no longer used just by the police. These devices have been steadily gainingu00a0u00a0 popularity among security personnel, those in construction business, and various other companies.

The Bangalore Marathon held on Saturday saw the usage of these devices, where they were provided to some participants to keep in touch during the marathon.

Useful for firms

"Companies prefer these devices since they can keep in constant touch with their employees. With just a push of a button they can inform about a meeting to a whole group at one go.

Our customers include companies such as Infosys, Yahoo, Motorola, IBM, Honeywell, Meru Cabs, Wipro and HPCL among others. It is no longer used just for security purposes but for business purposes also," said a spokesperson.

PTT communication (also called Dispatch) on radio frequency allows unlimited number of users in a Closed User Group (CUG) to communicate with their team members for unlimited time at a fixed monthly charge.

The latest handsets, which are sleek and light, boasts of various features such as integrated MP3 audio players, 2 Megapixel camera, multimedia applications, extendable memory, caller ID, USB Port, GPS and Java based applications.
