Cops revealed that Jayshree Sawant (50) jumped into Shivaji Talao in Bhandup to take her own life.
According to the police, it was one of Sawant’s most cherished dreams to see her younger son become an engineer.
After Sawant went missing yesterday, her family launched a search for her. “They were told by a neighbour that a lady had jumped into Shivaji Talao and her body was found by the police, who had salvaged it from the lake and taken it for post mortem,” said Shrirang Nadgouda, senior inspector of Bhandup police station.
The family members identified the body by recognising the saree that Jayshree had worn when she was last seen.
“The family members have told us that Jayshree had been upset ever since her son Vishwas’ results had come out in September, and had even stopped eating,” said Nadgouda.
Vishwas was the younger of Jayshree’s two sons. While his sibling Ganesh works in a private firm, he is an engineering student at a college in Nerul.
“Jayshree could not come to terms with Vishwas’s failure, as her husband had also taken a loan to pay his fees,” said Nadgouda. Jayshree’s husband Jaywant works for a private printing press.u00a0
