Jalgaon: Two persons were seriously injured when they were shot at allegedly by motorcycle-borne persons outside a local court, police said on Friday.

Two of the attackers have been arrested, they said. The victims - Nandu Chavariya (32) and Vinod Chavariya (35) (both cousin brothers) - were having tea on Thursday afternoon at a small shop in front of the Bhusawal court after coming out from there in connection with a case, when 5-6 persons arrived there on motorcycles and allegedly opened fire at the duo, Bazarpeth police said.

Nandu and Vinod had come to the court in connection with the bail plea hearing of their brother Nattu Chavariya, one of the accused in killing Bhusawal resident Mohan Barse on July 3 this year.

Following Barse's killing, his son Mithu Barse had apparently been on the lookout of the killers in order to take revenge. When Mithun got to know about Chavariya's kin outside the court premises, he along with his 4-5 friends arrived there on bikes and allegedly fired at both of them. Though the onlookers tried to catch hold of them, the attackers managed to escape, police inspector Balasaheb Kedare said.

According to police, a bullet passed through Nandu's head, while Vinod sustained a bullet injury in chest. Nandu is stated to be critical and undergoing treatment at a private hospital, while Vinod is also serious, police said.

Later, the police team managed to nab Mithin (30) and his accomplice Jayesh Thakur (22) at Deepnagar outpost in Bhusawal tehsil. The duo fired at the policemen in a bid to escape, but none of the cops got injured. Later, the two accused were arrested. They admitted to firing at the two brothers to seek revenge, police said.

The two arrested persons and four of their other accomplices, who are at large, have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC, police added.
