Top cop breaks his silence

He added that the precautions and precision used by the killers proved that they were not novices.

However, he also added that so far they have not been able to determine a concrete clue or motive behind the cold-blooded murder. “We are investigating all the aspects and different teams are working on each and every angle. However, so far, they have not got anything concrete in the case,” said Pol.


So far over 900 criminals have been interrogated. Retired police officers who were considered to have good investigative skills were also summoned.

“The bereaved son and daughter of Dabholkar met me today and I updated them with the case status and even asked them whether they doubt any organisation or individual,” he said.

“We appeal to people to come forward and give the information about the incident or the assailants -- their names would be kept a secret,” he said.

Dabholkar was shot in the head twice by two gunmen on Omkareshwar Bridge.u00a0

City cops detain man from Goa
A team of cops from Faraskhana police station yesterday detained one person from Sanatan Ashram in Madgaon for questioning. The ashram has however maintained that cops have taken one of the disciples to record his statement, and that no one has been arrested.

Speaking to MiD DAY, Abhay Vartak of Sanathan Sanstha, said they are cooperating with the enquiry, and that the police have questioned several of their followers who had filed complaints against Dabholkar.

The said man was even interrogated by the NIA and ATS in the Madgoan blast case.

Speaking to MiD DAY, Inspector Bhanupratap Barge said, "We have detained one person from Goa for enquiry, and it would be too early to say anything right now."u00a0
