The long road to DU!

It was a day when students braved traffic snarls and endless honking

Amidst the mad rush on the first day of admissions to Delhi University colleges, students had to brave hours of traffic jam. The roads in front of the colleges were jam packed with rickshaws, cars, auto rickshaws and two wheelers.

It took more than an hour to reach from the Delhi university metro station to the colleges. Students were tensed whether they would be able to reach their destinations on time. "There will be a large number of students coming for admissions today, and I am dead sure there will be a long queue in front of the colleges.

It's taking too long to reach. I am tensed whether I will reach my college on time," said Rakshita Kapoor, a DU aspirant. "We came out of the university station at 9.30 am. It's been more than 45 minutes since then and we have reached no where. University officials should have done something about this.

There is no other way to reach the colleges. What should we do now? Our 45 minutes have been wasted just like that. What is the point of coming so early? We are irritated," said Meena Gupta, a parent. Students were annoyed as many of them got late in collecting forms from their first college of choice itself.

"My first preference was Hindu College but when I reached here, it was already too late. So, I have to wait for another day. I hope I will get admission here tomorrow, otherwise I will have to look for another college," said Aman Sharma, another DU aspirant.
