New Delhi: A top Indian Mujahideen operative, who was an expert in bomb making, has been finally arrested, police announced yesterday. SN Srivastava, special commissioner of Delhi Police, said Tehsin Akhtar (in pic) alias Monu, 22, had been taken into custody. Officials described the arrest as a major breakthrough in the war against the shadowy group, which has been behind several attacks in the country.

Cops said that Akhtar, a resident of Bihar, was part of the Indian Mujahideen’s plan to create mayhem during the staggered Lok Sabha polls starting April 7.
The sources said Akhtar was in touch with Waqas, who was arrested on Friday from Rajasthan. Akhtar was reportedly involved in several bomb attacks across the country since 2010 that left a total of 43 people dead and 253 injured.
Explosives
A total of 73 live bombs have been seized from the suspected terrorists arrested by Delhi Police from Rajasthan. Sources in Delhi Police said the bombs were found in the possession of Waqar Azhar, Mohammad Mahroof and Saquib Ansari and were seized by Rajasthan Police.
