In a shocking case of sexual predation, a man misused the trust placed in him by his wife and instead raped his minor stepdaughter, who is now three months pregnant.

According to the police, Armugam (37), originally from Shimoga, presently residing at Payappa Garden on Bannerghatta Road married a divorcee with a daughter from a previous marriage 11 years ago.
Three months ago, on the pretext of taking his 13-year-old step daughter, then studying in standard IX to his hometown, Armurgam raped her while he was in an inebriated condition. Realising his misdeed in the morning, Armugam threatened to kill the victim if she revealed to anyone what had happened.
Fearing for her life, the victim kept the incident a secret. Recently, her mother noticed the physical changes her body was going through and questioned her, but to no avail. Finally, she decided to take her to a local clinic for a check up, which led to the shocking truth, the police said.
Based on the mother's complaint and the medical report, the Mico Layout police have detained Armugam and booked him under rape and criminal intimidation.u00a0

The police were unable to question the victim since she was in a state of shock. Inspector HS Parmeshwar, Mico Layout police station said, "We have subjected the accused to a medical examination to ascertain his involvement and will establish whether he has been raping the victim repeatedly over a period
of time."
