Blame it on fear of losing jobs, work pressure, inability to perform in bed

Sexologists in the city have witnessed a unique trend in the IT and BPO industry. According to doctors, professionals in these sectors are using performance-enhancing drugs to boost their sex life.

Doctors peg this down to the ongoing economic slowdown. Noted sexologist Dr Sudhir Sontakke, said, "In the last six months, I have seen an increase of around 25 per cent in the number of people suffering from premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction." He added that most of the patients are between 25 and 35, from the IT or from the BPO industry.

Stress hits libido
"People with the IT industry have a perpetual fear of losing their jobs as recession has hit this particular industry really hard. Stress is taking a toll on their libido due to which they are unable to perform in bed, and so end up consuming sex-stimulating drugs to satisfy their partners," he added.

D N Narhare, president of the Chemists' Association of Pune, confirmed that the demand foru00a0 sex-stimulating drugs has gone up in the last few months. "People are not opting for Viagra as it costs nearly
Rs 450 per tablet. Similar products made by other pharmaceutical companies are available for as cheap as
Rs 25 and sales are high."

Dr Vasudeo Paralikar, a senior psychiatrist, said, "Sex life flourishes only when there is peace and harmony.

When men can't perform well in bed, they end up taking drugs containing Sildenafil Citrate to satisfy their partners."

Dr Avinash Bondhve, president of the Indian Medical Association, said that the demand for drugs containing Sildenafil Citrate has shot up after recession hit the Indian shores. "People are also opting for Ayurvedic tonics and capsules that promise better erection." However, sex stimulating drug without a doctor's prescription is cause for concern, he added. "Such drugs can be extremely dangerous for people suffering from blood pressure and heart ailments."
