A speeding tanker hit a police van on the Western Express Highway in Andheri injuring 33 policemen, of which eight have been admitted to Cooper Hospital.
A speeding tanker rammed into a police van ferrying constables from the Local Arms unit-4 at Gold Spot junction on the Western Express Highway in Andheri East in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Eight constables, who were injured, were immediately rushed to the BMC run Cooper Hospital.
Speaking to MiD DAY an official from Andheri Police station said, “At around 1.30 am on Tuesday, a van carrying constables from LA-4 was going towards Versova, when suddenly a tanker rammed into it. Immediately the injured were rushed to Cooper Hospital.”
According to the doctors from Cooper Hospital, “At the time of the accident 33 policemen were in the police van and all of them bore injuries. Except for the eight who are now admitted to Cooper, the rest were given first aid and discharged.”
The driver of the tanker has been arrested by the police officials.
