Let the house parties begin in Chembur. A small quaint takeaway located opposite Chembur's police station comes as a welcome addition to the food and drink landscape in this buzzing eastern suburb.

As we approached this joint, the inviting aroma that emanated from the open tandoor area outside greeted us as the caretaker tended to kebabs and rotis.
The menu had an equal number of vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare. We went ahead and opted for the Veg Kiruba Platter (Rs 380). When it arrived, the portions made us sit up and smile. In fact, this platter is ideal for a group of three-four people. The platter contained a mix of cauliflower, paneer, potatoes, kebabs and mushrooms. Barring its pungency, the dish got full marks for its quality and quantity.
The chicken pieces in the Chicken Cheese Kebab (Rs 160) did not blend with the rest of the dish, but its softness and overall taste earned it a thumbs up.
The Rotis (Rs 10), to our surprise, were fresh and soft, even though an hour had passed by the time we tucked into them, as we savoured the other chartbuster -- Veg Lazeez (Rs 80).
This dish was neither oily nor spicy. Once again, the portions were generous. The Chicken Dum Biryani (Rs 125) tasted yum; again, it was low on spices with chunky chicken pieces thrown in. What's better news foru00a0hembur's foodies is that the owners plan to open a full-fledged restaurant soon in the same place. Till then, ordering in might not be such a bad idea, especially since the place is open till midnight.
