Suicide or murder?

Newly married woman found hanging at home, sister says in-laws murdered her

A 21-year-old woman student of ILS Law College was found hanging at her residence in Kasarwadi yesterday afternoon. The post-mortem report indicated suicide, but her family claimed she was murdered by her husband and in-laws, who had been torturing her since her marriage.

Foul play alleged: Deceased Jayshree Bamble at the time of her wedding

The deceased was identified as Jayshree Sushant Bamble, a first-year law student. Jayshree was married on December 26 to Sushant B Bamble,u00a0 an engineer with Tata Communication, said her elder sister Madhuri Sonekar.

According to the Bhosari police, no suicide note was found in Jayshree's room and no case has been registered yet.

Police Inspector Sudhir Aspat said, "We have got the post-mortem report of Jayshree and it says she committed suicide. No case has been registered yet against her husband or in-laws, but we will take action against them if they are found guilty," Aspat said.

Sonekar said, "Jayshree's exams were on and she had came to her mother's place in Pimple Gurav to study. Late on Saturday night, she got a call from her husband asking her to return home. Jayshree left and there was no news from her after that. Suspecting something wrong, we went to her house around 1 pm on Sunday, but the room was locked. We got no response to the several calls made to her and broke the door. We found her hanging from the ceiling fan."

Sonekar also alleged that Jayshree was tortured mentally and physically by her husband and in-laws. "Within 14 days of marriage, Jayshree was admitted to hospital. An FIR was lodged at the Bhosari police station on March 26," she said. "She was very strong mentally. How can a girl who would never hurt herself commit suicide? The mark of the rope on her neck was very light and the knot was found on the left of the neck. All this points to murder."

The Other Side
Despite several attempts to contact Sushant Bamble on his mobile phone, he did not respond. When his mother was contacted, she said that they were in Badlapur and had no knowledge of the incident.
