The Central Avenue in Hiranandani Garden, Powai, is turning into a foodie's paradise, with a variety of cuisines available within a half kilometre radius. Joining the crowd is Chili's, the Dallas-based burger joint that's been "spicing things up" with its South American cuisine since 1975.
The friendly hostess made sure we were seated comfortably before asking us whether we wanted a vegetarian or non-vegetarian menu (yes, they have two separate menus). You realise it's not all that impressive when the vegetarian menu lists the same dishes as the non-veg one, minus meat.
We tried the Spinach Mushroom Dip (Rs 155), Chicken Buffalo Wings (Rs 295), an El Nino Margarita (Rs 625), and Sea Breeze (Rs 275 for this vodka-based cocktail) to wash it down. The portions were large; easily enough for four people. Although Sea Breeze was stiff, it didn't match up to the El Nino (totally worth the price). Chili's claims to serve the best Margarita in the city and True Tex-Mex tasteu00a0 and we couldn't disagree. For the main course, we ordered Sizzling Fajitas and Big Mouth Burgers. We didn't quite have the appetite to order dessert, but the Cheesecake (Rs 195) and Molten Chocolate Cake (Rs 225) that landed on a table nearby, looked like must-trys.u00a0
