A mattress godown owned by Tukaram Yadav at Mahadev Nagar, Hadapsar caught fire on Sunday morning around 10.30 am.
The water-pump motor-room caught fire because of a short circuit in the wiring. The godown room on the second floor was charred but luckily the worker working in that room escaped safely through with just bruises on his hand.
The two-store building has a shop on the ground floor , au00a0u00a0 godown and two apartments on the second floor.
The residents of the apartment quickly got their cylinders downstairs to avoid any kind of injuries.
The Hadapsar fire brigade was called in immediately and around 10 officers took almost 45 minutes to put off the fire. Rohit Gaikwad, a shopkeeper near the godown said that the situation was risky as it was a residential area and there were chances of the fire spreading to other homes.u00a0u00a0u00a0
The entire godown along with some part of the shop was ruined in the fire.
