Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has landed himself into the middle of a fresh controversy. After being enmeshed in the Yamuna floodplain storm, the Art of Living founder's alleged comments on Pakistani braveheart Malala Yousafzai and rejecting the Nobel Peace Prize got him a lot of brickbats from Twitterati.

Over the weekend he claimed that he had been offered the Nobel Prize but had refused to accept it. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the Nobel Committee picking Malala as the Peace prize winner. The spiritual guru said the 16-year-old girl hadn't done anything worth receiving the prestigious award.

Talking to reporters in Latur while reviewing the drought situation in Marathwada, Sri Sri said, "I was in the past offered the Nobel Peace Prize, but I had rejected it as I only believe in working and not in being honoured for my work. We should always honour only to those who deserve it and I am totally against honouring Malala Yousafzai with the prize and it is of no use."
His controversial comment that he does not value the Nobel peace prize as it was given to Malala, who, he said is not worthy of it, drew widespread criticism on social media.
Sri Sri may have 'refused' the Nobel Prize, but the Twitterverse awarded him with humorous comments.
Here are some of the witty responses to Sri Sri's alleged comments:
With his jealousy for 18 yr old Malala, 59 yr old Sri Sri has once again proved: No amount of 'Art of Living' can make you a better person.

I rejected my Nobel Prize because I didn't want @SriSri to feel sad that I got it instead of him. ðÂu00c2u009fÂu00c2u0098Âu00c2u0089ðÂu00c2u009fÂu00c2u0090®ðÂu00c2u009fÂu00c2u0091³ https://t.co/lstfbqom5l

Sri Sri has problems with Malala because unlike every member of the Art of Living, she has a mind of her own and hasn't donated to his cult.

Inspired by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's refusal to accept a Nobel Prize, I have just rejected the Lifetime Achievement Oscar for 2016.

I #RejectedNobelBecause they don't give one for "causing grave ecological damage to Yamuna floodplains".

I #RejectedNobelBecause I threw a hissy-fit and got tangled-up in my gown, when they gave it to an 18yr old braveheart before me. Hmphh.
