Two men riding a motorcycle were killed on the spot when a BEST bus hit them from behind near the Suman Nagar junction. The driver has surrendered
Two motorcycle riders were killed in a terrible accident in Kurlaon Saturday morning. The two, who were travelling to work, were riding on a bike when a speeding BEST bus hit them from behind. The driver of the bus, Jalandar Deshmukh, fled following the accident but surrendered to the police later in the day. The bus was heading to Mulund from Trombay when the accident occurred.

The victims were later identified as Kartik Nagraj Naik, 25, and Raghuveer Natuba Jadeja, 24, residents of Pratiksha Nagar in Sion. They worked as technicians, repairing technical glitches in ATM machines. Jadeja suffered a fatal head injury and died on the spot, while Naik died on the way to the hospital. A case of accidental death has been registered at Neral Nagar Police station in Kurla.
A police official at the accident spot said, “The accident took place around 11.45 am. The two men who were on a bike were hit by a BEST bus after which they both fell off the vehicle. We were informed by the locals about the accident and rushed to the spot. They were bleeding heavily. While one of the men died on the spot the other passed away while we were taking him to the hospital.”
The two men were taken to Rajawadi Hospital and their families were informed about the accident. The post mortem will be done today to confirm the exact cause of death. u00a0The police have registered a case under Section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code, the Sections will be later changed to rash and negligent driving of IPC and Motor Vehicle Act, during the course of further investigation. Confirming the accident, a BEST spokesperson said that an inquiry is being conducted in the matter.u00a0
