More than 3,000 police personnel, bomb disposal squad and anti-terrorist squad will be stationed at Narendra Modi's rally in Mumbai today
Since a month, the Mumbai police have been working on thesecurity arrangements for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). More then 3,000 policemen have been deployed at the MMRDA grounds today. According to police sources, a police team from Gujarat arrived in the city to guide the Mumbai police immediately after the venue was decided.

According to the commissioner of police Dr Satyapal Singh, the entire city -- especially the areas around the venue -- are under severe scrutiny. “There are elements who want to hurt Modi. So, the Anti Terrorism Cell is hard at work. We are keeping a check on people who have come to Mumbai over the past month,” he explained.
The anti-terrorist squad has been activated at every police station in the city, added Singh. “More than five lakh people are expected to attend the rally. Since they will travel by trains or drive private vehicles, we have arranged for special security at all the railway stations. Cars will be thoroughly checked, too,” he elaborated.
The Bomb Disposal Squad has been checking the venue at regular intervals. “No air plane will be allowed to pass over the grounds, besides the helicopter in which Modi arrives. Keeping suicide bombers in mind, every individual attending the rally will be frisked twice on Sunday. We also have quick action team who are specialised in tackling such issues,” said Singh.
When asked whether the police team has received any threat calls recently, Singh said, “We have full-proof security for Modi. We regularly receive alert calls, and are well-prepared for that.”u00a0
