"We have Praharis that are yet to be flagged off," said a BBMP source.

Thanks to B S Yeddyurappa's hectic schedule, the 10 new vehicles have been standing at the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) premises for over a month.

More sophisticated than the 11 inducted in 2002, they have not been out on the road this monsoon despite several areas reeling under the heavy showers.

"We can't perform unless we get these vehicles on the roads," sources said. "We are not in a position to use them despite the heavy rains. We are managing with old vehicles, which are not enough to handle complaints from all eight zones."

Apart from the money u00c3u0083u00c2u00a2u00c3u0082u00c2u0080u00c3u0082u00c2u0093 the vehicles cost over Rs 5 lakh u00c3u0083u00c2u00a2u00c3u0082u00c2u0080u00c3u0082u00c2u0093 the work force including staff from the BBMP, BDA and BWSSB has nothing to do till the CM finds time.

However, the BBMP denies that the delay is hampering their work.u00a0
"We are attending to complaints using the old Praharis," said Dr S Khandre, public relations officer, BBMP, adding that they hope to start operations this week. Once the CM flags them off.
