Jaipur: A CBI court has sentenced a senior postal department employee to seven years in jail for misappropriating Rs 85.83 lakh during his posting at a sub-post office in Nagaur district of Rajasthan two years ago.


The Special Judge of CBI cases in Jodhpur sentenced Dileep Kumar Meena, who had in his capacity as sub post master of Manwar-Moondwa sub post office misappropriated government cash to the tune of Rs 85.83 lakh, the agency said in a release. The court also slapped a fine of Rs nine lakh on Meena.


Meena, who was posted as postal assistant and also held the charge of sub post master of the post office, had withdrawn excess amount of cash in disproportion to the actual liability of sub post office from the local branch of State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur and thereby misappropriated government money to the tune of Rs 85,83,303.
