The 19-year-old has named two senior students, who allegedly insulted him regularly, causing the boy great distress
A 19-year-old second year student of an engineering college in Navi Mumbai allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a running local train in Ulhasnagar on Friday evening. The student’s father alleged that he took this extreme step after being ragged by two of his seniors.

The student, Nitin Balu Padalkar, was a resident of Omkar Chawl, Katemanivali, Kalyan (east). He was studying Electronic and Telecommunications in a leading college in Nerul, Navi Mumbai. Although his exams had begun on May 9, Padalkar was at home on May 10, as it was a holiday for him.
On noticing that Padalkar looked depressed, his father Balu asked his sister Seema what was the matter. Seema told him that Padalkar was upset about two senior students, who were constantly insulting him.
Around 6 pm Padalkar told his family that he was going to meet his friend Ashish Dhanawade at a nearby ground. Around 8.50 pm, Seema received a call from the Kalyan Government Railway Police (GRP) stating that Padalkar, suffering from major injuries, had been taken to the civic-run Rukminibai Hospital. When his parents rushed to the hospital, they found that Padalkar had died.
The GRP had recovered his body on the tracks between Ulhasnagar and Vitthalwadi railway stations.
They also recovered a suicide note written by Padalkar in Marathi (pictured here), stating, “I am not able to live in this world. Two men, Pradip Paikrao and Gaurav Madhvi, have caused me great distress. I am requesting to punish them hard. Mom, Dad don’t worry, your Nitin is with you. Educate my sister very well.”
The Kalyan GRP has registered an ADR (accidental death report). “We have found a suicide note which states he was harassed by his seniors. We are also investigating further,” said Inspector Sanjay Nirmal, Kalyan GRP.u00a0
