An officer from the police department said, "it seems the elephant was being given its bath by its caretakers and was also under the observation of a veterinary doctor from the Pimpri Chinchwad Corporation, when he lost control and started running around only to be calmed down after three hours. The incident happened at 10 am. It seems he was scared of the people present."

Satish Gore, veterinary doctor from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation said, "The elephant is under our obsrvation. He lost control due to a crowd of people that gathered, which led to the rope to which he was tied to getting loose, while he was bathing. Being a young elephant he started moving around and jumping on the street. There's nothing to worry about and we are fortunate that no one was injured. Later, he was cooled down by being made to sit in a muddy path after which water was poured on him and he was given grass to eat."
