Speaking to mid-day, Vijay Palsule, senior Police Inspector, Nigdi police station, said, "The house, where Kusum, her husband and younger son reside, is owned by her elder son Milind Jogade, who is posted as assistant sub-inspector at Thane. The incident happened around 3 pm on Tuesday when her husband had gone to a nearby temple and her younger son was out for his gym classes."
He further said, "One of the two salesmen identified himself as the son of 'Appa'. Assuming that the person was a distant relative, about whom she was not aware, Kusum let the men in. When the duo convinced her how great the product was, and that it was much cheaper compared to the market rates, she decided to buy it. When she opened a tiffin box to take out cash, in which she had kept jewellery as well, the duo noticed it. Then they pretended as if 'Appa' had called up and asked Kusum to talk to him. As she moved to the living room for better signal, the accused stole the jewellery. Thereafter, they hurriedly left the place. The culprits will be nabbed soon. We are investigating the case further."
