Fast asleep: Traffic police constable Shivajirao Gadge slept behind the assistant inspector’s chair in the police control room
The traffic constable has been identified as Shivajirao Gadge. “Gadge was not even in a position to stand or walk properly. He could not walk up to the main police control room and instead went directly to the traffic department’s control room.
Assistant Inspector S M Javheri, control room in-charge, allowed Gadge to rest in the room and even made arrangements for him to sleep behind his chair. Javheri should have informed his seniors and taken action against Gadge for such indiscipline,” sources said.
“Gadge was also given election duty in Wanawadi area on April 17. He was supposed to ferry the electronic voting machines safely to Shivaji Nagar godown.
However, he was missing from the booth for the entire day. Finally, the electoral booth officer had to make other arrangements to take the machines to godown safely,” added the source.
When asked about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vishwas Pandhare said that he was not aware about it. "I am on leave but will inquire about it and take action,” Pandhare stated.
