If all your friends have different tastes, dining out at Mannekin will be a pleasure. Along with a plush ambience, the swank new eatery scores high on variety and service. Here's a detailed verdict.
Food
It's a clever place that combines Continental menus that are undisputed hits in India Desi, Chinese and Italian. For hearty snacking, Chilly Paneer and Veg Spring rolls (Rs 280 each) would be a safe bet. This apart, you can go in for Mahi Tikka (Rs 500) and Chaarminar Veg Seekh (Rs 280). In Italian, we give a thumbs-up to the Insalata Di Pollo chicken salad (Rs 330).
For the main course, Prawn Singapore (Rs 500) along with Boiled Broccoli and Baby Corn (Rs 280) did the trick for us. If you want to keep it swadeshi, nothing would taste better than Murgh Mumtaz (Rs 400) and Chicken Boti Masala (Rs 400). Vegetarians can look forward to Makki Khumb Masala (Rs 280) and Subz Taka Tak (Rs 300). For healthy indulgence, Italian gourmet delicacies like Costolette Di Agnello Ai Funghi (Lamb chops) and Gamberoni Al Pepe Rosa (king Prawns, Rs 590 each) is what we'd point to. Cheese lovers can bite into the Pizza Margherita (Rs 450), Pizza Bora Bora (Rs 500) and Penne Gratinate Alla Sorrentina (Rs 430). The list of desserts is equally extensive. Tiramisu, Chocolate Fondant (Rs 220 each) and Parsi Diary Kulfi (Rs 125), however, take the cake.
Drinks
Keep up the spirits with a variety of cocktails like Sex on the Beach and Lime Mojito (Rs 300 each), apart from Tequila shots, malts and whiskeys. Teetotallers can depend on good ol' mocktails like Tropical Punch, Mintchee and Cranbull (Rs 150 each).
Ambience
A striking gold and red interior makes Mannekin a rich, exuberant place to hang out at. "It's specially created to give a jewellery box kind of a feel," enlightens Rajiv Ranjan, general manager. Low lighting, coupled with comfy seating, enhances the lounge experience of the place. As dusk falls, the in-house music spinner, Anil Malhotra, belts out commercial music including Retro, House and Bollywood numbers. The eatery also organises private parties and get-togethers. Smokers can enjoy their drags in the separate smoking zone.
