Nashik: A 50-year-old police inspector, attached to Ramanand Nagar police station in Jalgaon district who was under suspension allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Nashik.

The incident took place last night at Om Nagar in Panchavati locality when the family of the victim--identified as Ashok Gorakh Sadare-was out, Shantaram Avasare, incharge of Panchavati Police Station said on Saturday.

When the family members returned home, they saw Avasare hanging. In a suicide note that he left for his family, the policeman alleged that District Superintendent of Police, Jalgaon and a Crime branch Police inspector were harassing him mentally since past seven months pressurising him for fund collection.

Fed up, the inspector had a lodged a written complaint in this regard with the sub divisional police officer (SDOP) at Jalgaon. Disappointed with his suspension thereafter, he decided to end his life, the note said.
