Dwarfed by its neighbours Belleza, and the ever-expanding High Street Phoenix mall, OMA's simple but stylish window manages to catch your eye as you drive through Senapati Bapat Marg. And if the brand's popularity in Delhi is anything to go by, this little store is likely to contribute to more than its share of traffic problems in the area. Although Vivek Sachdev, manager at the store, was eager to show us around, and even admitted, "Almost 80% of our products are imported from Denmark," he seemed somewhat hesitant to divulge the name of the proprietors. An Internet search revealed that the company is a venture of The Hero Group, and a promoter of the brand had announced plans to launch 16 to 18 branches across India, way back in 2007, when the first OMA store was launched in Delhi's Khan Market. The Mumbai store will have at least one advantage over its two counterparts in Delhi. "We are working on setting up an open-air cafeteria here," Sachdev shares, drawing our attention to the open space at the rear of the store.

The store is split across two levels. The ground level stocks cushion covers, mainly stitched out of velvet and leather (Rs 1,395 onwards), an extensive display of tea-light holders and votives, lamps, candle holders and artificial flowers. The piece de ru00e9sistance is the pair of gothic chandeliers with dangling crystals positioned at the entrance (Rs 49,995 for the bare chandelier; Rs 56,000 for the chandelier with cloth caps).

The second level holds bathroom accessories, spa products and dinner sets. Here, you can pick up a gorgeous gold gift box (Rs 345 onwards for the box alone) and have it filled with your pick of spa and bath products. Gold green-tea or Chinese-tea mugs (Rs 545 per piece) and an embossed ceramic bathroom set (Rs 1,995 for the soap dispenser, Rs 1,145 for the mug and Rs 1,145 for the soap dish) were striking, and we thought a glass full of bath fizz balls (Rs 95 per piece) made for an interesting tub-side showpiece.
