With the overwhelming response during the recent ‘Passport Grievances Redressal Day’ at Dattawadi police station, the Pune police has organised a similar event at Chaturshringi police station on September 21, from 10 am to 8 pm.
On August 2, the police had completed police verification reports (PVR) for 153 passport applicants in a single day. The police hope similar drives will help in reducing the large numbers of applications piling up at the police stations.
At present, Pune police has about 7,000 PVR pending at the local police stations. Chaturshringi police has had about 958 PVRs pending for more than 21 days. As per schedule, the verification process must be completed within 21 days from the time the passport is sent for to the police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch II and Foreigner’s Registration Office), Sanjay Patil said, “After the good response at Dattawadi police station, we will organise a similar drive at Chaturshringi. We have informed all applicants whose PVRs are pending with the police station.”
“The applicants have to come to the police station along with necessary documents, like residential proof and their photo identity card. This will not only save time but also expedite the work, and pending cases of police verification can be processed faster,” added Patil.
