MEPL officials complete tarring of potholes across two stretches and one remaining section will be completed by this evening
The bumpy drive that commuters had to endure on the Vakola flyover owing to the cratered roads will be a thing of the past after authorities took note of the potholes and pressed into action.

After MiD DAY reported about the pothole-ridden roads on the flyover and the inaction on the part of the authorities (‘One day of rain and this is what happens to WE Highway’, June 10), officials from the Mumbai Entry Point Limited (MEPL) have begun work on the road and said that by this evening the tarring of the road would be completed.
Confirming the same, MEPL director Jayant Mahiskar said, “We were waiting for a 48-hour dry spell to start the repairs and the tarring has completed on two stretches and the work on the remaining one stretch will be completed by Saturday.”
On June 10, MiD DAY had reported how motorists using the northbound stretch of the Vakola flyover on Western Express Highway (WEH) were seen getting stuck in hour long traffic jams owing to the bumpy, uneven surface on the flyover. It should be noted that MEPL, the toll-collecting agency, is also in-charge of maintaining 27 flyovers in the city.
Senior Police Inspector Traffic (Vakola) PP Temkar said, “As per my knowledge 50 per cent of the work has been completed on the flyover. Owing to this, the traffic problems on this stretch have considerably reduced. We still do face small traffic issues, but since the remaining part of the resurfacing is to be carried out tonight it will definitely solve the traffic problems and we can expect clear roads in a couple of days.”
