Three more swine flu cases were reported yesterday

A day after the dreaded swine flu virus claimed two lives (a 19-year-old boy from Chembur, and a 44-year-old woman from Navi Mumbai), Super Religare Laboratories, a private pathological laboratory, reported three more cases of swine flu in the city.

Those infected are a man from Andheri and two women — one from Jogeshwari, and the other from Bandra. All the three are being administered doses of Tamiflu, and their condition is said to be stable. With them, the tally of H1N1 cases reported this year has reached 225.

According to doctors, a slight dip in temperature is believed to be the main reason for the sudden spurt of H1N1 cases.

Dr Anil Manerkar, a private practitioner, said the rise in H1N1 cases is due to fluctuation in the temperature. “Now that influenza and H1N1 vaccines are easily available, people should get themselves immunised. Also one should remember that if cold, cough and runny nose persist for more than 48 hours, he should immediately see a doctor,” Dr Manerkar added.u00a0
