Insisting that the state should be self-sufficient in the power sector, Munde said the 700 km coastline, which Maharashtra boasts of, can be utilised to generate more power. Munde urged the political parties that there should be no politics on the issues of development.

"For the development of the state, politics should be kept aside, criticism should not be made against each other and we should come together at least on some issues," he said.

Munde also asked for a comprehensive discussion on the issues like irrigation, power, education and industry. Saying that Maharashtra's debt-burden is Rs 2.5 trillion, the BJP leader said this burden is more than that on the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

"Bihar's GDP is rising and time will come when the influx into Maharasthtra from that state will stop," he said.

Impressed over the presentation made by former minister Shankarrao Kolhe on the cooperation sector, Munde urged the State Cooperation Minister Harshavardhan Patil to rope Kolhe as the brand ambassador for the sector.

"We always rope in actors as brand ambassadors. But as far as the cooperation sector is concerned, Kolhe should be roped in as the brand ambassador," he said.
