Mumbai police probe mystery of the missing bahus

Varsha Hilpal (name changed on request) is one bewildered mother-in-law. In a report filed by the Malvani resident with the local police, she has stated that both her daughters-in-law, Rashmi and Sunita (names changed), went missing from their respective homes simultaneously.

Rashmi, wife of Varsha’s elder son, disappeared from their Malvani dwelling, while Sunita, married to the younger son, vanished at the same time from Kachpada area in Malad (West). Malvani police has only registered a single missing complaint, saying the incident of Sunita’s disappearance was out of its jurisdiction.

However, a team of cops is trying to trace both females through their cellphones. Police also summoned the two husbands to question them after recording Varsha’s statement. “Rashmi has a four-year-old child and during investigations we learnt that there was a huge fight between the husband and wife recently.

We are now going to record statements of the neighbours of both couples,” said an officer from Malwani police station. Police have also found out that the two bahus had a cordial relationship. They spent hours talking over the phone and met frequently.u00a0
