A two-day girl was found stuffed inside a plastic bag and wailing near a gutter in Dongri on Wednesday morning. A local resident, who heard the baby, went to investigate and found her inside the plastic bag. He immediately took the child to the Dongri Police station and a case against unknown persons has been registered.
The police took the baby to JJ Hospital and her condition was found to be stable. The doctors said the baby could not be more than two days old.

A resident, Afzal Dawoodani, who is associated with the BJP’s transport union wing, first saw the baby near a gutter at Munda Galli, stuffed inside a plastic bag that had been filled with clothes. Dawoodani said, "I was passing by the area and suddenly heard a baby wailing. I searched everywhere and finally found a plastic bag that had something moving inside it. When I looked, I was shocked to find a baby inside. It was fortunate that I found the baby. The area is infested by rats and they could have bitten the child to death."

He said, "I brought the baby to my office and then called the police. They took the baby to the police station. Whoever has done this must be caught and severely punished."
