A 76-year-old on a sports bike met with a fatal crash on the Mumbai-Pune Old Highway. While the deceased was wearing a helmet, witnesses said he was speeding on the highway. He has been identified as Naozer Jamshed Aga, 76, a businessman residing at Nepean Sea Road.
He was heading towards Pune on his Ninja ZX Kawasaki. A police officer said, "Around 9.30 am, he was passing near Khalapur. Witnesses said he was speeding, and lost control of his bike. It dashed into the road divider. The bike turned turtle and then lurched 10 feet ahead, dragging Aga along."
Bystanders were busy clicking pictures of the accident scene until the police arrived. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. A case has been registered with the Khopoli police station. An officer said, "It was shocking that the victim died despite wearing a helmet. We are investigating the incident and have informed the deceased’s family."
