Cops following hunch that body parts were dropped by dumper coming from a hospital; stench of chemicals indicates students used heads for practice surgeries
Officers at Oshiwara police station were stunned when they received a call from locals near the Lokhandwala dumping ground telling them that two decapitated heads had been found in the garbage heap last evening.

Investigating the matter, officers believe that the severed heads may have been offloaded there by dumpers who usually pick up refuse from three hospitals in Andheri (West), Vile Parle and Jogeshwari.
Cherring Dorje, deputy commissioner of police (zone IX) said that the police are in the process of verifying whether the heads were picked from one of these hospitals, after being used by medical students for practice.u00a0The heads belonged to a man and a woman, both in their thirties. “We are in the process of finding out whether the dumper that collects garbage from hospitals left the heads there,” confirmed Dorje.
At 6 pm, the driver and cleaner of a dumper saw the heads partially sticking out of the garbage. They informed the Oshiwara police. “Only after we verify how the heads landed in the garbage dump will we register a case in the matter. When we recovered the heads we found that they were smelling of chemicals which are largely used by medical students to conduct practice surgeries,” said Dorje. “We assume that the heads were dumped there from a hospital nearby. However, we are verifying this,” Dorje said, added, “If negligence is proved we will register a case against the errant hospital.”u00a0
