The victim, identified as Rakesh Rane (25), a resident of Dadar, was killed in the wee hours of Monday on the Western Express Highway (WEH) while returning home from a dandiya function on his motorcyle.

According to police officials, the accident took place when Rane lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the divider near Vile Parle. “The accident took place at around 6 am on Monday. Soon after the accident, we rushed Rane to the BMC-run Cooper Hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.”

Speaking to MiD DAY his sister said, “I am married and do not live here. We got a call in the morning saying that an accident has happened we immediately rushed to the hospital. When I reached I saw my brothers’ body right in front of my eyes.”

A neighbour, who did not wished to be named, said, “It is being said that he had gone to a garba night and was returning home when the accident happened. All this years he hardly made any conversation with anyone in the building and was a very aloof person.”
