Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Friday took her battle of words with arch rival Samajwadi Party to Raj Bhavan, meeting Uttar Pradesh Governor BL Joshi to demand imposition of President's Rule in the state
Accompanied by confidante and party general secretary SC Mishra, the former chief minister told the governor that the law and order machinery in the state has crumbled under the Samajwadi Party government, making it a fit case for invoking Article 356 of the Constitution.

In the meeting with the governor for over 10 minutes, the BSP chief handed over to him a memorandum seeking the Centre’s intervention, citing the 28 communal riots in the state in the past one year. She told Joshi that under such circumstances when the minorities were falling victim to lawlessness and people at large also faced a similar fate, it was imperative that the Akhilesh Yadav government be dismissed and President’s Rule imposed.
