A neighbour of Sukhbir is Sandeep Dhull, a Congress member. Dhull received an invitation to a ceremony organised at Teen Murti Bhawan on the occasion of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's birth anniversary. Sukhbir decided this was his opportunity.

Card tricks
"Dhull was not at his home when Sukhbir stole the invitation card and came to Nehru Library at Teen Murti Bhawan. He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and looked like a college student. This drew the attention of oQAAfficials from the PM's Security Cell, who took him into custody for interrogation and called the local police after he was found impersonating. He was later arrested," said a police official.u00a0

Joint Commissioner of Police, PM Security Cell, Sunil Garg said that he was on leave for the past ten days and wasn't aware of the incident.u00a0

Identity crisis
"When he was stopped by security officials, Sukhbir produced the invitation card. He was then asked to provide an ID proof. Sukhbir showed his voter ID card, which nailed him. The invitation card was issued to Sandeep Dhull, a Congress leader," said the police official.

He added that Inspector Raj Kumar of PM's Security Cell interrogated the culprit and discovered that he was an impostor. He then called local police deployed outside the auditorium and handed him over to them.
At around 6 pm on November 14, Sukhbir was taken to the Chankayapuri police station where an FIR was lodged against him.

"Sandeep Dhull is pursuing a PhD and lives in a men's hostel at North Campus. He is also a Congress leader," added the police official.

On Guard

Prime Minister of India is secured under Z+ category security in which about 55-70 security personnel protect the subject. Besides, the PM is protected by the elite unit, Special Protection Group (SPG).
