In yet another case of harassment of senior citizens by their own children, one Ajit Singh Bindra was rescued from his residence in Rohini on Tuesday. It turned out, Bindra was locked inside his house for the last six days, where his son had left him in a hope to get rid of him.u00a0
Bindra was rescued by Sampurna, a non-profit development organisation, based in Rohini. The NGO got a tip-off about Bindra from some source and immediately called the police. "The NGO approached us regarding the incident and we reached the spot. The man was in a bad state and was rushed to the Ambedkar Hospital. He is under medical surveillance," said a senior police official.u00a0u00a0
Bindra's nephew, Kuldeep Singh, who came to the NGO after hearing about the incident, said, "He was tortured by his son, who was adopted."
"Police broke the lock and we walked into the room to find Bindra lying on the floor. It is very unfortunate," said Nishant Sharma, head of the Sampurna team.
