An Oman-based businessman, who was allegedly looking to buy a flat in an Oshiwara building, fell to his death from the 27th floor of the same building yesterday. Police have not yet been able to conclude if the victim committed suicide or was pushed to death, and are investigating the matter.
The deceased identified as Puniakant Phillips Raju (55), was visiting Green Height apartments in Oshiwara at 6.30 pm and had made his way up to the 27th floor. After 15 minutes the building watchman was alerted by a loud thud and rushed to the spot. To his horror, he saw Raju lying in a pool of blood. He then informed other residents who in turn notified the local police station. Cops then rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead before admission.

Police have not recovered any suicide note and arrived at the conclusion that Raju was on the 27th floor after finding shards of glass there. Police are now trying to ascertain if the deceased was accompanied by any other person or the agent with whom he was negotiating for the purchase of the flat.
Police said the sales manager whom Raju had called earlier in the day told the police that though they had a conversation, the deceased was supposed to meet him in the afternoon, but never turned up.
Senior inspector Nasir Pathan, of Oshiwara police station, said, “Till now it’s not clear if he fell accidentally or if there was any foul play. Investigations are ongoing.” Police said the deceased used to reside with his relatives in Kalina.u00a0
