Betul (MP): An employee of Aamla municipal body suffered bullet injuries after he was shot at by a man following a squabble over acute shortage of water in the town in Betul, police said on Wednesday.

The injured employee was admitted to a missionary hospital at Padhar where doctors removed the bullet successfully after surgery, Aamla Police Station in-charge, Alok Shrivastava said.
The incident occurred last night after the accused got infuriated when water was not supplied to Aamla town. An argument ensued and he shot the municipal body valveman Ramesh Supatkar, the police officer said.
The accused, identified as Lakhan, has been taken into custody and his pistol has been seized, the official said. Protesting the incident, employees of Aamla municipal body have struck work affecting water supply in the town.
Meanwhile, Betul district headquarters is also facing water crisis and the authorities have confined the use of water for essential purposes only under section 144 in the town till June 11, Sub Divisional Revenue Officer, Sanjeev Keshav Pande said.
