Protesting parents allege Rosary management now 'punishing' their kids during class, say they may file police case against school authorities

Nearly 10 days after parents began protests against the Rosary School management over a fee hike, they are now alleging that the school authorities are punishing the students for the protests. The parents are so angry over this issue that they are now planning to file a police complaint.

"Our children came back and told us that the management is harassing them by making them stand for one hour during class periods," said Ajay Sathe, parent of a Std III student who is a member of the newly formed association of parents protesting against Rosary's fee hike. "Suddenly all punishments have gone up and this is because parents are protesting against fee hikes."

Sathe said that the parents are now planning to file a police complaint. "Even the education authorities are not taking action against the school despite the fact that what it has done is illegal. If our issue isn't resolved, we might move court against the fee hike issue," said Sathe.

Chairperson of the education committee of PMC Sangeeta Tiwari paid a visit to Rosary last morning and asked the school to stop collecting fees.

"The fee hike isn't correct and I have directed the PMC's education board to immediately take action," said Tiwari. "Besides asking the school to shut down its fee counter, I am arranging for a meeting of parents with the management and education board officers to resolve the issue."

Tiwari would be visiting the other campuses of Rosary school today to meet more parents.
