Katara case: HC reserves order on bail plea of Vikas, Vishal

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday reserved its order on bail plea of Vikas Yadav, son of Uttar Pradesh politician DP Yadav, and his cousin Vishal, undergoing life imprisonment for killing Nitish Katara.

A bench comprising Justices BD Ahmed and PK Bhasin reserved the order after hearing the contentions of all the parties including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh governments, which opposed the bail plea.

In June last year, Vikas and his cousin Vishal, were sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi court for killing Katara, an MBA graduate and son of an IAS officer, as they were against their sister Bharti's growing intimacy with him.

The duo had kidnapped Katara on the night of February 16, 2002, from a marriage party in Ghaziabad and killed him later.
