"Though it took a long time, justice has been done to us. The authorities maintained extreme secrecy to carry out the execution and we are satisfied," she said reacting to the news of Qasab's hanging at Yerawada jail.

Vandana Chavan, NCP leader and relative of Kamte, said the action which gave justice to families of the victims, also demonstrated the country's commitment to the process of law.

On November 26, 2008, Additional Police Commissioner Kamte, ATS chief Hemant Karkare and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar died at the Cama hospital after being shot by Qasab and his accomplice Ismail Khan during the terror strikes, which left 166 people dead.u00a0
