It was a morning walk they will not be able to forget. Unidentified men broke open cars belonging to four joggers on Marine Drive yesterday and made away with the valuables kept inside. Anahita Naresh Nadkarni, a resident of Dadar, had gone for a morning walk to Marine Drive. “I had parked my car outside the Trident Hotel around 6 am.

Thieves smashed the windows between 6 am and 8 am and fled with the valuables

When I returned around 8 am, I found the rear left window of my Toyota Etios broken. My purse and mobile, worth around Rs 57,000, were missing,” said Nadkarni. Similarly, three other vehicles suffered the same treatment. The rear left window of Prashant Patel’s Toyota Innova had been shattered and his sunglasses, cash, mobile and debit card were stolen.

Soman Sainghi lost designer clothes worth Rs 25,000 from his Skoda and Ajay Rau had Rs 2,600 cash stolen from his Maruti Swift. The crimes were committed between 6 am and 8 am, and the thieves smashed the windows with stones. A case has been filed at Marine Drive police station.

“My car was parked exactly opposite the CCTV camera of Trident Hotel. I hope the cops manage to trace the accused through the footage,” Nadkarni added. “We have asked for the video footage from Trident. Once we go through it, we will be able to identify the thieves and go further in the case,” said an officer from the Marine Drive police station.
